The Buka e Jetes day centre feeds more than 80 people five days a week. It might be their only good meal that day. As importantly it is a centre for people to meet and find others that really care for them and who will celebrate birthdays and special events in community.
The Bread of Life day centre is run by a mix of A2B staff and volunteers from local churches and the family link program. It’s a hub where people can meet, eat, talk, discuss their needs and worries and know someone will be listening – and somone who can help. This is especially important to older people to whom the social contact is invaluable. Visits are made by local pastors who share the gospel and talk with the guests. The centre also helps with the monitoring of health problems and can provide finance when medicines are required.
